SMG Charlie Mohr Memorial 3 Gun Shoot

This is a Charitable fundraising 3 Gun Match to support the Ohio Green Beret Support Group, a subsidiary of Chapter 45 of The Special Forces Association.

All proceeds from this event fund the design, fabrication, and installation of a memorial monument for SFC Daniel B. Crabtree who was the only Green Beret killed in action since 9/11 from Ohio's only Special Forces unit.

High-grade door prizes, lunch, and refreshments provided with registration fee.

After you register, you will receive an email link to a payment site. Payments must be in full for approval and to squad.There will be 4 stages with one stage having targets out to 200 yards.

  • Match rules will be the 2020 UML 3 Gun .

  • There will be 4 or 5 stages with one stage having targets out to 200 yards.

  • Stage information will be available in August at www.richwoodgunandgameclub.org .

  • Arrival at 8:30 hrs and check in

  • Safety briefing 0930 hrs

  • Match Starts at 10:00am

  • Estimated end time is 1500 hrs

  • Nice facility that has a club house with kitchen.

  • Each shooting bay is high quality and the Club.

  • Hosts multi gun competitions several times annually.

  • The Club’s members will manage scoring of the shoot.

  • Lunch and drinks will be provided.

Support Ohio Green Berets by buying Raffle Tickets

The Ohio Green Beret Support Group, LLC is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that solely supports active duty and retired Special Forces soldiers and their families.  It is a subsidiary of The Buckeye Chapter of the Special Forces Association.  Ohio has one Special Forces unit that deploys frequently.

The Ohio Green Beret Support Group’s Tax Identification Number (TIN) is 83-1512941.  

The Ohio Green Beret Support Group has no expenses related to the compensation of its members.  All donations are used for the following initiatives:

  • Scholarship program for Green Berets and their immediate families and direct descendants.  Scholarships and tuition grants are available for university degrees of all types as well as vocational training.

  • Gold Star Family support.  We have provided thousands of dollars in direct support of the widows, children, and immediate family members of Green Berets who have lost their lives in combat or died from combat wounds.

  • Family support and unit support.  We pay for all expenses related to family day events and Christmas parties (including gifts for children) of Ohio’s only Special Forces unit.

  • Family support of wounded Green Berets.  We pay for travel expenses for family members to visit their Green Berets who have been wounded or injured and remain to recover at military hospitals.  

  • The Ohio Military Hall of Fame for Valor.  We pay for the nomination expenses of Green Berets inducted into this prestigious organization.  We also make donations directly to the Hall of Fame for Valor to support its operations.

2021 Freedom Ride

Join Chapter 45 of the Special Forces Association as we raise funds to honor and support the Green Berets of Company B, 2nd Battalion, 19th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and their families.

  • Where: Meet at

  • When Registration is from 1000 - 1200 hours

  • Prior to departure we will have the grill fired up with food and drink to help fuel the mission.

  • Kickstands up at 1200 hours

  • What:

    • Meet and Greet the most highly skilled, Special Forces in the U.S.

    • Then ride with them to the Buckeye Lake Winery for a one hour stop.

    • Last leg will be to the AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) HQ and Museum in Pickerington for a Bike Night.

  • Food and Drinks are available at the Winery and at the AMA HQ at additional costs.

  • 50/50 Drawings will be held at the AMA. Winner need not be present to claim prize. we will get contact info on tickets.

  • Cool items will be auctioned off at the AMA HQ that are a must have!

  • Special Forces apparel and Ride patch available

  • $20 per rider. $15 for passenger.

  • Proceeds directly support the men and families of Ohio’s only Green Beret unit.

Fall 2021 - Ohio Green Beret Support Group Scholarship

The Ohio Green Beret Support Group is awarding three annual $1000 grants of tuition assistance for chapter members and their immediate family. These scholarships are being managed by the Columbus Foundation.

Selection Guidelines

  • Candidates must be members in good standing of the Special Forces Association, Chapter 45 (Buckeye Chapter), or their spouse, children (including adopted children and stepchildren), and other dependents are also eligible. Other dependents include grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or others for whom the Member is acting in the role of parent or guardian.

  • Candidates must be graduating high school seniors or high school graduates with a minimum 2.5 grade point average.

  • Candidates must attend a two- or four-year college or university; a career or technical program; post-secondary trade certification program; or a Master’s or Doctorate degree at an accredited institution in the U.S.

  • The application process will include writing an essay and completing an application form.

  • The Columbus Foundation will send a list of applicants to SFA 45 to assure they are chapter members in good standing or related to a member as described above.

  • The Columbus Foundation has a committee that reviews all application submissions and essays, and they choose the awardees.

  • This process will probably occur in late April or May. Both awardees and non-selects will be notified by The Columbus Foundation.

OGBSG Scholarship Application Process

  1. The Columbus Foundation link will direct you to create a SurveyMonkey account.

  2. Applicant must also complete a FAFSA application: Free Application for Federal Student Aid and save that application in pdf format.  The OGBSG Scholarship application process includes a link to FAFSA.gov website, so the FAFSA application can be completed and saved while uploading the following required documents.

  3. Required to upload the following in pdf format:

    • 250 to 500 word essay

    • Resume

    • Two letters of recommendation from non-family members

    • Latest Scholastic Transcript

    • FAFSA application: Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  After the applicant uploads the other documents, the site also connects the applicant to the FAFSA.gov website, so the FAFSA application can be completed, saved in pdf. and uploaded.

Chapter member Mike Hurdzan and his colleagues that form Keepers of the Green are dissolving this organization at the end of this year. Mike will present the organization’s final donation to the Ohio Green Beret Support Group at the Golf Club of Dublin at 1000 hrs on 9 June.

5th Annual 3 Gun Shoot

This is a Charitable fundraising 3 Gun Match to support the Ohio Green Beret Support Group, a subsidiary of Chapter 45 of The Special Forces Association.

All registration fees will be donated to support a scholarship fund for the men and families of Ohio’s Green Berets.

Our top door prize is a new 9mm Glock pistol with suppressor as well as cash for the ATF stamp tax fee.

Other door prizes include range bags, mags and other shooting related items.
